Our best look at a “realistic” Samus.
We’ve seen plenty of fan art for the Metroid franchise over the years, including some absolutely stunning cosplay creations just a few weeks back. The latest to grace the internet is courtesy of Luis Nieves, who works as a senior character artist at Xbox studio ‘The Initiative’, presumably plugging away at the reboot of the Perfect Dark series.
Luis’s artwork depicts a hyper-realistic version of Samus Aran, complete with what appears to be both her Chozo Suit and Varia Suit (or the huge shoulder pad things, at least). We’re particularly impressed with the attention to detail here along with the more grounded take on the character. Being able to see Samus’s face has frequently been a point of discourse with fans of the franchise, but we think its use here is sublime.
